Meatballs with feta and garlic

April 9, 2012

Low carb dinner

These meatballs look nothing like the factory made meatballs you can buy in your local shop, but they taste a million times better.

Here’s what you will need for the base recipe:

- 500 grams (1 lb) of ground meat or beef
- Half feta cheese (75 grams, 2-1/2 ounces)
- 1 onion
- 2 cloves of garlic
- mixed pepper, salt, paprika or your choice of herbs/spices

Mash the onion and cloves of garlic. Mix ground meat with salt.
Add mashed onions/garlic, crumbled feta cheese and your choice of herbs/spices.
Mix it all together. If you don’t have a kitchen machine, use your bare hands. It will get a bit messy, but your hands will do the job, and there will be less dishes too ;-)

Make small meatballs with two teaspoons or form them with your hands.

Now fry your meatballs until they are no longer pink inside, or brown them before adding a little bit of water and let them cook under a lid.

The feta and garlic makes a really delicious taste.

The juice that is left in your pan after frying makes a delicious sauce, just add a bit of heavy cream or creme fraiche.
