Why We Get Fat

General

Obesity has always existed, but in the latest 30 years we have experienced an obesity epidemic. The comsumption of sugar has increased with over 60 million tons since 1985. How did this happen and why do we get fat? If this could just be blamed on laziness, then why are even children obese in our modern world?

The biggest diet myth today is that a calorie is a calorie:
Eat more than you burn and you will gain weight…
Eat less than you burn and you will loose weight…
Eat less, exercise more…
It doesn’t matter if the calories you eat comes from chocolate or vegetables, if you eat more calories than you burn, you will gain weight…

We’ve all heard it over and over again. And if it is that easy, then why are we experiencing an obesity epidemic?

The truth is that a calorie is not a calorie. Until you have this knowledge, you can’t be blamed for being fat. However, once you have this knowledge, you have the power to change your situation.

In Dr Robert Lustig’s video series “The Skinny on Obesity” you will learn why a calorie is not a calorie and why we get fat.

I especially recommend this video, where Dr Robert Lustig explains in simple terms, the biochemical reasons of why we get fat and why it is not possible to eat less and exercise more.
