For many of us low carbers it is obvious how so many people are getting fat. We have learnt how biochemistry works, we have learnt that losing weight is not just about willpower, but about regulating our hormones. For those of you that don’t know, it is important not only to know how to live a low carb lifestyle, but also why you are doing it.
With this knowledge it is interesting, for lack of a better word, how society today judges our obese brothers and sisters for their lack of willpower.
In this day and age, even babies are fat, obviously not because of their diet and lack of exercise, but because of their mother’s insulin level before they are born.
Simply put, sugar and all other types of carbohydrate raise our blood sugar levels. When our blood sugar increases, our body has to produce insulin. Insulin is a fat storing hormone, which means it is not possible to lose weight while the insulin is high. All that sugar in your blood will be quickly turned into fat and typically stored around your stomach area, so that your body can get your blood sugar level down to healthy levels as quickly as possible.
This video explains sugar addiction and how it is causing us to overeat
